While the traditional colors of fall are shades of red, orange and brown, I prefer the less conventional color combos, so let’s break the rules a little! Decorate for the fall season with this colorful pumpkin wreath with brighter colors like coral, yellow, tangerine and pale pink. Together, they give your home the look of fall while straying away from traditional style.
Wreaths are a great way to decorate your home for each season, and this one has held up well for me so far. Once the season ends, they’re easy to store away until the following year. This just goes to show what great things a little spray paint can do!
Materials:
- Foam wreath form
- Mini pumpkins/gourds
- 3-4 colors of spray paint
- Drop cloth
- Hot glue glue
- Twine
Step
Spray paint outside on a drop cloth for proper ventilation and drying. Separate the pumpkins/gourds into 3-4 groups and spray each group a different color of paint. They may require two coats.
Step
Once all of the pieces are fully painted and dry, use the hot glue gun to attach them to the wreath form in no particular pattern. Start with the largest pieces and fill in gaps with the smallest pieces.
Step
Cut a piece of twine or heavy string about 8 inches long. Carefully loop around the wreath where you want the top to be and push the twine through the spaces in between the gourds. Tie a knot/bow and tape to the backside of the wreath so that you can hang it without the knot showing.
Then your wreath is ready to hang!
This colorful fall wreath is the perfect introduction to your home and a sweet thing to come home to as you open the door every day. Remember, you can still enjoy fall colors with a modern twist!
This is so gorgeous… love the color combo!!
