I love making ornaments for our Christmas tree every holiday season, and this year I decided to go a bit contemporary with my design… click through to find out how to make these minimalist acrylic hand lettered ornaments and to download our free template.
Materials
- Ornament Template (click to download PDF)
- White craft paint
- Fine tip paint brush
- Scissors
- 2″ clear acrylic disks
- Drill with 1/8″ drill bit
- Gold and white bakers twine
Begin by drilling a small hole in the top of the clear acrylic disk so you can hang up the ornament. Be sure to put a piece of scrap wood underneath so you don’t drill into your table.
Next, place the disk over one of the circles on the template and trace over the text with your paintbrush. Let it dry thoroughly.
Last, thread a piece of twine through the hole and knot it at the top. Cut off the excess.
Now make a few more and hang them on your tree! Each phrase is available in three different fonts so you can either use all of the same fonts or mix and match them.
You might consider trying different paint colors too; gold would look beautiful, or you could go non-traditional with my favorite combo – magenta and turquoise! Have fun with it… and happy holidays!
