Recycle Old Window Weights-Uses?

by on Jan 20, 2007

Hi There,

I am proud to announce that I have finished installing my first replacement windows (10 now, more later this yr) in my foreclosed “Carnie Crackhouse”. I had to replace the original 1934 single-paned leaking, high maintenance windows.  Purists and maybe most designers would be mad/unhappy but I was willing to trade real wood for low/no maintenance in this case, in my part of the world.

Anyway, have (40) window weights and looking for alternate uses.  Otherwise I’ll just salvage at scrap yard.  Only can think of using them as light small fishing boat anchors.  Anyone want ’em?  But shipping would be a b**ch.  (Maybe I said bunch).  Ha!

Here’s pics of before, during and after as well as weights on my old, existing linoleum art deco floor in kitchen.  There is solid oak underneath that I will be restoring later.

After:

Wood window overlooking a grassy outcropping with a mail box.

Pile of weights:

Group of thin wood sticks interlaced with string on top of a cement floor.A dirty window payne has tools sitting on it.

Before:  (2 panes were actually missing…zero paned windows?)
