Today I’m sharing a unique holiday wreath idea, which involves some serious fringe and a few jingle bells to up the festive factor. So if you have lots of yarn scraps lying around, then this tutorial is for you. Click through to check out the final product.

The resulting wreath is super unique, yet it still has that merry holiday feel. And here’s the best part… it won’t take you more than a half house to assemble!

Here’s what you’ll need for your wreath:

  • Yarn scraps in multiple colors, 16″ long each
  • 2″ wide satin ribbon, 3′ long
  • 3 silver jingle bells
  • Metal ring, 8″ diameter
  • Scissors
  • Clear twine
  • Evergreen branches

Begin by creating the fringe along the bottom of your metal ring. I found my ring at my local craft store, but you can also buy them on Amazon. Fold a couple of strands of yarn in half and slip the folded end under the ring. Insert the opposite ends through the hole and pull tight. I used two strands of the mint green each time because it was thicker, and three strands each of the blue and navy because of their thinner texture.

Repeat this process, alternating between the three colors until you have filled the bottom of the ring.

Next, cut the bottom of the fringe so it forms a pointed arrow shape. Be sure to comb the yarn with your fingers so it is all straight before cutting… otherwise you’ll end up with uneven lengths.

Trim the evergreen branches so that you have a couple of pieces that fit nicely over the knotted ends of the yarn.

Tie the branches together with the clear twine, and then use the twine to attach it to the ring at the center of the fringe. Tie it in a small bow so that you can easily remove the branches at the end of the season (that way you can reuse it next year by adding fresh branches).

You may need to tie the sides to the ring as well so they don’t droop.

Tie the bells together with a piece of twine and then attach them to the front of the wreath, again with a bow so you can remove them in order to take off the branches. Trim off any visible twine ends.

Tie a ribbon to the top to hang your wreath… I made a loop, and then tied a bow at the top. And that’s it!

This wreath makes a great addition to any wall that needs a bit of extra festive cheer.

You can also experiment with the scale and color scheme of this wreath – the metal rings and the bells are both available in gold, which would be a pretty variation.
