Bar carts are super trendy right now, but they can also be super expensive. If you’re looking for a cheap and minimal option, this easy DIY is definitely for you. And who doesn’t like taking pre-existing pieces and transforming them into something new? Simply turn an outdated and bland TV tray into a minimalistic bar cart!
Materials
- TV Tray
- Sandpaper
- Cloth
- Spray Paint
- Measuring Tape
- Brass Cabinet Pulls
- Drill
- Brass Corner Gaurds
Step
Sand your TV tray to rough up any edges. Wipe the excess dust with a damp cloth.
Step
Spray paint your entire tray using any color you prefer. I opted for a light grey chalk finish – it’s a little more scratch resistant and the muted color feels both soothing and modern. Allow to dry in between coats.
Step
Using measuring tape, find the center of the tray top for placement of your brass handles. Make a small guide using a pencil.
Step
Pre-drill holes using your pencil guides.
Step
Attach the brass pulls according to directions securely.
Step
Attach your brass gaurds according to package directions. There are a lot of different styles and sizes to choose from, it’s all about personal preference.
Step
Simply style your bar cart and enjoy!
Easy, right?! The best part is, it still folds and can easily be stored when you need the extra space. Simply bring it out of storage the next time you entertain or just keep it out all year long – no one’s going to judge!
This can easily be taken outdoors for those summer dinner parties or kept in a dining or living area!
Not to mention, this grey and brass combination is refreshing and perfectly modern – when you’re not busy entertaining, you can display quirky decor or even freshen it up with some house plants.
