When it comes to plants, there is a common stigma that they are hard to care for and that you need a super green thumb in order to have them in your home or outdoor space. The truth is, there are all kinds of sizes and species to suit your schedule and needs so that caring for them comes as natural as possible. And this vertical planter (made from a SHOE ORGANIZER!) is a genius way to keep your plants all in one place so that you have no problems remembering to water and show them some love once a week.
Materials
- Shoe organizer (like this one, from Amazon – $9.99)
- Plants small enough to sit into the pockets
- Lattice (optional)
- Fabric marker (optional)
Step
Take your fabric marker and create a little message or design. This step is completley optional! Otherwise, assemble your shoe organizer per instructions.
Step
Place the plants directly into the pockets with the container. This will give you the flexibility to move them around and play with placement whenever you get bored or want to add more plants to the mix! It’s also handy for taking them out to water them so that your organzer doesn’t become too dirty.
Step
You may or may not choose to use a lattice to hang your organizer. You can also hang them on a fence or other outdoor surface where it may apply. Using a lattice is great if you want to bring your plants indoors at any time – permanently or just overnight.
Step
Don’t be afraid to do your research or ask questions at your nearest nursery or hardeware store to find out which plants are right for you. All it takes is learning the basics and once you’ve become a little more educated, you’ll be fine! I chose plants based on their texture and sculpural quality, but if you are newbie stick to plants that are a bit more forgiving until you feel confident in your ability to keep them alive and thriving!
Having them outdoors adds a colorful ambience and an even more lively statement indoors! Options are great, so having the lattice and plants mobile allow for all kinds of fun!
