I’ve never crocheted before in my life, but after seeing this charming stool I’ve got a serious desire to learn how!
Kristin from Sweden shared this stool makeover on IKEA Hackers, but I’m wondering what else you could spruce up with a little crochet action… Any ideas?
While you’re thinking about what else you could cover in yarn, let’s see what we’ll need to create this whimsical stool.
Materials:
- A stool (this one uses the Marius Stool from IKEA)
- Cotton Yarn
- Foam
- Freeform pattern from Ravelry
Kristin explains she first crocheted long tubes to cover the stool legs and then created the freeform birds. After sewing and crocheting the critters together to create a circle, she crocheted a piece around them big enough to cover the seat of the stool. Next, she cut a piece of foam to match the size of the seat and wrapped the crocheted cover over the top. Presto! A cute and cozy upgrade!
So, have you thought of what else you’d give the crochet treatment to? A planter? A side table? Let’s brainstorm!
