Make your own doodled buttons!
By swelldesigner
So, if you've been seeing my little headbands, you will notice that I had some cute little striped buttons on there. I wish I could find buttons that cute, but in actuality, I had to make my own.
I would offer you a really great tutorial, but there's nothing to it! You simply doodle on buttons with permanent markers. Easy.as.pie.
Now I don't recommend you buying expensive buttons (and if you do, draw at your own risk). I've messed several buttons » READ MORE
Letter and Number Decopauge Jars
By swelldesigner Letter and number decopauge jars
Here's a fast and fun decopauge jar idea that looks really cool and graphic. I'm a big sucker for bold letters and numbers. I love large letters for walls and pillows with giant numbers on them. I don't know what it is...I just love the shapes! I guess my fondness for letters and numbers graphically is attributed to being a graphic designer. I love fonts!
To make these jars, you simply need, jars, magazine clipping » READ MORE

Sweater Stockings
By lilybeeWe've had upcycled sweater cushion covers here on Curbly before, and
very fabulous they were too. These Christmas stockings from Martha may
be their second cousins.
To make them you need
- A sweater (cardigans or Henley tops seem to be simplest)
- Thread
- The downloadable stocking template included in the instructions.
Head over for the full skinny. You could felt the sweater before you made the stocking, I reckon that would give more » READ MORE

Felt Snowflakes
By lilybeeSnowflakes that are fuzzy and soft are so much better than the real thing. Look how pretty these Two Sided Felt Snowflakes are:

Their
creator, Molly at The Purl Bee says that you can 'You can create your
own blizzard in a snap!' A pretty felt blizzard sounds lovely and way
better than the real kind that stops you wearing your brand new boots
and makes your nose do that dribbly snot thing.

Faux Fire
By lilybeeWhen the weather turns rubbish nothing beats snuggling up in front of a fire, possibly with trashy fiction and preferably with some kind of chocolaty beverage. It's just what winter should be all about. Unfortunately our apartment doesn't have a fireplace so I was forced to improvise...

While technically it wont keep me warm, (except in a cockles-of-my-heart way) it was super easy to make and it makes me smile, and my baby scream with b » READ MORE
Make Christmas Decorations More Chic

Forget about ordering a floral arrangement for Thanksgiving. Look around your house, in the pantry, at your bowls to find simple and pretty vessels to fill with fruit, water, river rocks, flowers or even a branch from a leaf-barren tree. This arrangement allows everyone to see across the table while either enjoying the family, or self-righteously analyzing each other. We do a little of both.

Ribbon Up Your Bathroom
By lilybeeRealsimple has a cute way to use up the squillion meters of ribbon that you might happen to have tucked away. (Compulsive ribbon buyer? Moi?)

Whip your old shower curtain hooks off and replace them with lengths of ribbon, tie them off and snip the ends at an angle. Practical? Maybe, maybe not, but it's cheap, has big impact and it's super easy to change when you get bored.
A spot of the same ribbon sewn onto the bottom of a few hand towels wo » READ MORE
Freshen Up Billy... Change Up an Ikea Staple
By lilybeeThis can barely even be described as an Ikea Hack, as essentially I just slapped a bit of something on the back board of a slightly disreputable Billy bookcase that a friend passed along to me.
Maptastic:
I took the back of the Billy off and taped a large map onto it, I didn't even cut it to size, just folded the corners over and taped, then tacked it back on with new nails. An alternative would be to print out some images from google maps » READ MORE
Easy Wallpapering
By lilybee
Wallpapering gives me The Fear. What with the mess and the peeliness and the pattern repeats. The last time I tried it, well, there were tears, swearing and some bloodshed.
According to the folks at Real Simple it doesn't have to be that way. They have a quick how-to on using the newest, (less scary) wallpapers that abound these days, including Pre-Pasted, Paste-The-Wall and self adhesive paper.
To hang Paste-the-wall paper:
