Scratching Post=Modern Art Piece

By DIY Maven

created at: 2009-11-05

This is Leo, a cat scratching post that looks as lithe as are the fur-people that use it. Made of Zebrawood, it's soft enough to give kitty's claws a workout, but it's hard enough to keep its shape. » READ MORE

‘Designer’ Pet Crate Covers

By DIY Maven

created on: 07/23/08

Because of some behavioral problems, my very neurotic cat sleeps in a very large dog crate at night. It breaks my heart, as I’d much rather have her sleeping in our bed and specifically on my feet, which seems to be her preferred human body part/pillow. For any pet-parent that has to employ a crate, you know what an eyesore they can be. Crate Covers and More sells very pretty ‘slip covers’ (starting at $130) in various styles that you can pop » READ MORE

House and Hound Friday Round Up

By Deborah

Hello Curbly! I hope everybody had a great Fourth of July Weekend. I missed last Friday's House and Hound post as I spent the week in Yosemite National Park. What an unbelievable place... We are so lucky to have so much protected nature in the United States. Yosemite, Yellowstone, Glacier, Joshua Tree, Boundary Waters... so many different parks to explore.

And here's this week's Round Up:

Cat Butt Decor

By DIY Maven

WARNING: Crude material ahead.

When the topic of cat butt rears its head around here, it usually has something to do with dingle berry control. You get a whiff of something malodorous and know that Miss Kitty has a milk dud attached to her backside. Frankly, I do my best to complete the dingle berry removal process by ‘feel’, averting my gaze if possible. Considering its potential for such nastiness, we might think there could be nothing ‘cute’ ab » READ MORE

Hip to be SquareCat

By beccajo

SquareCat Habitat promises "Modern Furniture Designed for Cats and their Owners", and they deliver.

Using bamboo plywood, they create furniture for cats that is also pleasing for their owners.

If my cat still had claws (removed by owners prior to my sister) she'd get treated to one of these!

yard art, cats steps, tree sculpture

By frithmobiles

Jazz Steps

I wanted to create art in my backyard. Designed with recycled wood.... I made steps for my cat to go up the tree for a higher view. Each step is rounded to match the round tree, and each step is nailed in with 2 nails. Underneath I have a stainless steel bar for support, that goes into the tree and step.  Also, it is pretty cool art to look at.

Maybe too weird, even for me.

By beccajo

I love animals as much as the next gal, and sometimes, they make me insane. Witness, my sister's cat Raja, whom I am long-term-catsitting, again.

She shreds paper (she ate my sister's taxes one year), tracks litter everywhere, refuses to sleep at night, sheds like crazy unless I take protective measures,* and has a little bit of a bulimia issue. I can only feed her about 1/8th of a cup of food at any one time, which she will wolf down, and 10% of » READ MORE
