LP Illusions
By DIY Maven
If you have some vinyl collecting dust, this would be great fun to try! I’m not sure if these photographs are from random individuals or if they were taken by one particular artist. Either way, they’re an interesting–and clever–interpretation of pop culture. Via Fun Tuna.

Daniel Edlen’s LP Canvases
By DIY Maven
Artist Daniel Edlen is one of those people who just can’t let go of vinyl. And why should he when he can use those old LPs as canvases? Portraits painted in hues of grey on the musicians’ original records, he frames his art in simple metal LP frames with the accompanying album sleeve behind. His on-line gallery is primarily a tribute to the music of the 60's and to anyone interested in re-purposing.

CD Garden Sculpture
By DIY Maven
The CD recycling topic keeps on a’ rolling! Today’s clever installment comes from Sally J. over at The Practical Archivist. She took the above photo of a CD/DVD LP sculpture located in her neighbor’s yard. At the height of summer heat, the LP’s might get a bit melt-y, but I’m thinking that would only give the sculpture a more organic look.
Another Recycled Vinyl LP Idea: The Snack Tray
By DIY Maven
Check out The Green Apple’s recycled LP snack tray. The UK emporium sells them for 20£ a piece, but they are very likely DIY-able. A bit more work than an LP bowl and candelabra, you would need a donut-shaped form. I’d suggest some sort of wood product cut to size. Then just position the LP over the donut and place in a low-temp oven (about 200<), coaxing down the label and the lip to form the rim of the tray as the LP becomes pliable.
DIY Vinyl LP Coasters
By Chrisjob
These are by no means an original idea. I saw them on all sorts of websites when shopping for unique Christmas gifts. However, $20-45 for six or eight coasters seems like a bit much. For the same investment [for the hole saw], you can make these guys by the thousands, and by picking out your own LPs, you can select from the choicest of colors and label designs.
And while you're feeling LP-tastic, check this out!

How to Make an LP Candelabra
By DIY Maven
Apparently I'm not the only one who likes to use my oven to melt old LPs. After making an LP bowl, how about fashioning an LP candle holder to go with it?
Visit instructables to find a great tutorial, submitted by fungus amungus, on how to melt an LP using wine corks and an apple to create a candelabra Liberace would have envied.
New Life for Old LP
By DIY MavenFor a great recycling project, how about turning an old LP into a bowl? If you’ve already hauled your vinyl to the curb, don’t worry. Thrift stores and charity sales almost always have some records they need to get rid of.
