My room is what keeps me sane. I'm not a minimalist by any stretch of the imagination - I love colour, patterns and knick-knacks. Being poor, half my stuff is off the street on garbage day or from thrift stores. For me, design and style is all about being in the right place at the right time.

The lady who owned the house we moved into, her husband used to paint. He was awful, but his paintings were framed in these amazing frames. He's dead now so I'm sure he doesn't mind I threw out his artwork (the lady took the good ones with her anyway) and put in some $1 fabric I found in Value Village instead. It looks classy!
