Kitchens with Green Clean

By jasimar

So my germ obsession conflicts entirely with my family's design to clean more greenly.  I'd really like some input on how you sanitize your kitchen without harsh chemicals.  I've read lots of conflicting information about vinegar and baking soda and how much they really get rid of spilt chicken/ meat bacteria.  Also, I'm open to new products and methods.  Tell me how you do it, means and method.

Finish the kitch - Countertop Q

By jasimar

We began remodling our kitchen with new tile floors, Ikea cabinets and a seamed Ikea countertop.  A year or two has passed, bringing baby and other projects.  But we're ready to return now and finish the job.

Our countertop isn't working for us.  We need a seamless alternative and not on the hugest budget.  If we don't want granite prices but want something smooth and modern, where do we go?

Cleaning favorites

By jasimar

My sister-in-law and I are new parents, relatively at least (no pun, intended).  We're new home owners, too.  We're both interested in having as few products around the house as we can as well as healthier alternatives to the more chemical products out there.  So we're out for simplicity and non-toxicity. heh.  What are your favorites in these catagories?

By jasimar

Challenge:  You've just purchased a home.  It's in decent shape - stuff works.  But it could work better.  And look better, too.  You've got about $500.  What 10 DIY tools or supplies do you grab at your local mega-home store and why?  (If you can spend less, that'd be better).

Unhinged - Please Help

By jasimar

So I have this piece from Ikea.  It's a dark wood TV armoire of the Markor series.  The door hinges allow it to open about 180*.  But that's not enough, is it?  I want MORE!

Months after purchase, after removing thin doors and hiding them in the closet to keep safe my babe, I happen upon another Markor TV armoire of the same kind in the As-Is dept.  But this one is different... the hinges allow the door to open fully, butterflying out.

 West Elm Bed, Overlapping Squares

So I'm digging this bed but I so want to DI-myself.  How would you go about making just the base for a king sized bed?  Just curious.
