simpsons fan? i had been looking for a sofa (and chairs) for more than a year. the perfect one is in japan and there are too many logistical problems with getting it here. so i just finally gave in and got a mid-century settee on ebay. as soon as i bid, though, i had buyer's remorse. i'm planning to reupholster it (loose cushions) but dunno how. would you have any idea how much it would cost to get it done? did you decide on fabric? angela adams has some nice ones...

I would go to a larger fabric store & look at stuff, but that's me. I'm a hands-on person & have to touch it before I know if it's what I want. Dark brown will not show stains so much, lighter colors would take more work to maintain. There is Scotchguard spray though, I haven't used it but it says it will repel stains, so if you like the lighter fabric, maybe you want to go for it! If it has texture, you want to think about how tough it is, for what you want. A soft cordory has great texture, but is quickly rubbed down so it looks bare- not good. Tweed sounds good though. Just get an upholstery fabric, not another type, because upholstery fabric will wear better. Unless you find a heavy canvas or tarp fabric that appeals to you, those are very durable too. Post pictures when you're done!

Thank ya.  Any suggestions on new fabric?

I'd like a light brown and something with texture...maybe a tweed?  I haven't a clue as of right now and I'm not having much luck on the web.

Nice! I don't think those would take too much to reupholster yourself.
