You Can Paint Your Ugly La-Z-Boy
By ModHomeEcTeacher
Yep! It's true. SimplySpray sells a non-toxic, not-flammable, aerosol spray paint that can be used for for a variety of upholstered pieces-canvas, rugs, car or boat interiors, and rugs. Watch the YouTube demonstration
video to see how a sofa is transformed. Let's face it, in a pinch it's worth a try.
There is a disclaimer that if your upholstery fabric can absorb water, then the spray paint should work. Available in nine upholstery colors, an artistic type could certainly create a stunning piece of upholstered artwork. Six cans sell for $69.00.

Thanks for the review Angela.

I used this for 2 pillows and a lampshade in orange. I also did an old pink chair black. I have had no problems with rub off or transfer, I even sat in it with white pants on. The first coat was a bit splochy, I did a second coat after dry time and it looked great, I definately would recommend a second coat. Don't be afraid to try new products they have come along way since RIT with paint and dye.

I just bought two wingback chairs with plans to paint them. Only I'll not be using this, or any other, spray paint. I'm going to use good ole latex interior semi-gloss paint. I'll make sure to take plenty of pix, not sure about video since our son still has my tripod, but I'll share it when I'm finished. I've friends that have done it and were very happy with the results. Looks very much like leather. Wears well too.

It could end up splotchy, that's where an artist can hide it behind a design. I wonder if there may be some kind of sealer so the paint doesn't ware off on clothes. As I said, maybe in a pinch, it's worth a try.

I saw a product like this used on one of those home make over shows. It turned out splotchy. Although, the idea was very interesting.

My experience with such products (not THIS product in particular) is that they tend to have poor colorfastness and high transfer.
