Rodent reviews: Organic is Better!

It seems that a group of Swiss and Austrian scientists have discovered that rats have fairly sophisticated palates. The furry little gourmands are reported to prefer organically grown food stuffs.

In the New York Times article, Organic, and Tastier: The Rats Nose Knows (free subscription required) food scholar and writer Harold McGee reports, "the rats were better at telling the difference between organic and conventional foods than many humans have been."

Which points out an interesting phenomena: not all food snobs are rats, but under the right circumstances all rats can be food snobs.
