Air Conditioner Calculator (Or, how to figure out how big of an air conditioner you need to buy.)

Hot summer days are just around the corner. If you're thinking of investing in a new window air conditioner, you'll want to buy one big enough--but not TOO big--to cool your room. To help you figure out just what size of an air conditioner you need, Good Housekeeping has a handy air conditioner calculator. Just enter the square feet of the room that needs to be cooled, an estimate of how well insulated the room is, if it's sunny and, finally, if the room in question is a kitchen. Hit 'submit' and presto, you have the approximate number of BTUs you'll need to cool the room.
