How to STOP Junk Mail!
By DIY Maven
1. Visit dmachoice.org and click on ‘Remove My Name From Those Lists’ to get off the Direct Marketing Association’s mailing lists. (Online registration is good for 5 years; you should see an 80% reduction in junk mail within four months.)
2. Don’t register new products you buy; doing so puts you on mailing lists, according to Tom Watson from the National Waste Prevention Coalition.. Your original proof of purchase will guarantee your warranty.
3. Visit optoutprescreen.com or call 1-888-5767-8688 to opt out of pre-approved credit card offers. The website offers a 5 year as well as a permanent opt out option. By opting out, "Not only will you nix the offers, but you’ll be reducing your chances of identity theft," according to Beth Givens of the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse.
4. Don’t sign up for supermarket loyalty cards. Not only do they track your purchasing patterns, they generate a ton of junk mail. If you must sign up, use a pseudonym and a fake--or no--address.
5. Visit catalogchoice.org to choose the catalogs you really want to receive in the mail.

I been using www.MyJunkTree.com to help stop unwanted paper junk mail from my mailbox. It provides me with one central location at which I can stop the junk mail and solicitations from more than 1300 catalogs and over 5000 charity/nonprofit organizations, credit card companies, major banks, and data brokers, as well as stopping phone directories. This green site also will plant trees with each new membership. A great site!
