How To: Pie Pops.

By Chrisjob

My recent visit to the State Fair has taught me two very important new concepts: first, everything is better in mini (mini rabbits, mini cheesecake); and second, all foods are better on a stick.

And, oh buddy, do these Pie Pops capitalize on both. "Scoochmaroo says 'These little beauties can be assembled with pre-made ingredients or from scratch. I used this pie crust recipe and the following filling to utilize fruit in season at the time:

  • 2 fresh peaches
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • Fresh nutmeg and cinnamon to taste
  • Two pie crusts
  • Lollipop sticks"

The problem is, it'll be impossible to eat less than ten!

Oh, the handmade stuff has it's own fabulous building. Last year I watched guys carve leather but that lost the attention of elephant ear eating Ed, so this year it was abbreviated. Yes, by the looks of the Indiana State Fair, that's what the main attraction is.

That's all anyone ever does in Indiana, right?

Ours had a Handmade Expo/Indie Craft fair one day as an alternative to the miles of gingham and rabbit-headed vacuum covers. We never went to those types of things when I was a kid (I didn't know what 4H was until high school), so I learned quite a bit!

All we did at the State Fair was eat and watch the Clydesdales pull wagons. That was it! We were pathetic.
